The Independent Adventurers Network is a cooperative community of individuals with an adventurous disposition; whose expeditions are frequently conducted without the benefit of assistance from an outside organisation.

This self reliant approach to remote expeditionary travel requires resourcefulness, adaptability, ingenuity and perhaps most importantly an unshakable sense of humour to overcome the inevitable shortfalls in available funds and resources.

Thus we tend to judge the significance of an achievement by the means employed to reach it, for we believe that success is not measured by what you have, but by what you can do without. Or as Bernard Ferguson so eloquently expressed it:

"I learned how much of what we think to be necessary is superfluous; I learned how few things are essential, and how essential those things really are"
